My Haw Par Villa Guide

Haw par villa, also known as Tiger Balm Gardens is a hidden gem in Singapore. I'm not sure how popular it is among tourists to Singapore, but I would recommend it for those who want to see something funny and interesting in one. I guarantee, this place will educate and thrill you at once! Most of the statues and dioramas are depicting scenes of the Chinese mythology and aiming to introduce the Chinese history and Confucianism to the public, in a weird way tho..

The place got its name of the Haw brothers (Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par) who moved their business to Singapore from Myanmar in 1926. Their aim was to share the meaning of Chinese mythology while decorating the grounds by the three-dimension, life like sculptures. Initially they imposed a high entry fee, but it discouraged people to come frequently, so from 2001 anyone can visit there from 9am to 7pm every day for free!

Have you been a bad boy/girl?? Or you have lived as a good and honest soul?! You will be treated accordingly!! You are standing or kneeling in front of King Qinguang and the trial will judge about your reward or punishment!

Oh my highness! Please spare me! I have always been a good gal!

Those, who were evils and crimes overweight their good deeds will be sent to other courts to get several punishments!
